Maharashtra School Timings | The School Education Department has issued orders to schools of all mediums and all managements in the state to hold classes from pre-primary (nursery) to class IV at 9 am or after 9 am. A government decision has been issued in this regard. Compliance with the order is explained. The decision will be implemented from the coming academic year. (Maharashtra School Timing)

Children sleep late at night for a variety of reasons. Since school is early in the morning, they do not get enough sleep. As it has a negative effect on the physical and mental health of the students, the school education department has given instructions to change the timings of the schools.

Governor Ramesh Bais had expressed his concern about the children in the school while inaugurating the campaign ‘Chief Minister Majhi Shoola Sundar Shoola’. The governor also recently suggested that if the current morning session school time is postponed to 9 instead of 7, as the children do not get enough sleep at night, then the children will get enough sleep and they will focus on their education and the morning rush of the parents will also be reduced. After this, the School Education Department through the State Educational Research and Training Council conducted a study on changing the school timings by considering the timings of various schools in the state. The decision of the education department said that after discussing the feedback, various education experts and education lovers and parents, it was decided to open the school after 9.

Suggestion for Management…

All medium and all management schools in the state which open before 9 a.m. are required to change their pre-primary to class IV timings and those schools whose pre-primary to class IV timings are earlier than 9 a.m. Instructions have also been given that while changing the school timings, the concerned school management should ensure that there is no disruption in the study and teaching period fixed for school education as per the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009. The managements of the schools where it is not at all possible to change the timings of their schools, should be advised to solve their problems with the guidance of the concerned District Education Officer / Education Inspector (Primary) on a case-by-case basis. For this, the management of the concerned school should contact the Education Officer / Inspector of Education (Primary) in their district and take action regarding the matter. Also, instructions have been given in this government decision that the Director of Education (Primary) should take vigilance in this regard.
