PMC STP Plant Renovation – (The Karbhari News Service) – Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has 6 sewage treatment plants working to process the sewage generated within its limits. Its capacity is 477 MLD. However, these projects are as per the old regulations. It is 15 years old. It is necessary to renew it. 417 crores proposal was sent to the government under the Amrit scheme. However, the municipal corporation has prepared a revised project report of 840 crores. This proposal is going to be sent to the state government for approval under the Amrut scheme.

The six sewage treatment plants include Bahiroba, Tanajewadi, Bopodi, Erandwana, Vitthalwadi and Naidu sewage treatment plants. The total cost of this project was 417 crores. Accordingly, the capacity will be increased by 89 MLD.
Meanwhile, in the discussion with the Municipal Commissioner, the detailed project report of six projects did not consider disc filter units for tertiary treatment, but instead of power generation projects at Bhairoba and Naidu sewage treatment plants, the construction of compact biogas cylinder refilling stations was amended in the detailed project report with the technical approval of the Maharashtra Life Authority. It was decided to prepare a detailed project report. Because the Pune Municipal Corporation’s River Improvement Project (JAICA) has taken up a disc filter unit for tertiary treatment and as a result of this work TSS < s mg/L, the processed water will be cleaner than the newly directed criteria by NGT and will help in greater reuse of the said water.

We had sent a proposal of 417 crores to the government for the renovation of sewage treatment plant. It has been approved by the government. But we have made a revised report to purify water like Jayaka project. Which is 840 crores. We will send this proposal to the government. If this is not approved, we have got approval for the 417 crore project. We will start work accordingly.
