PMC 34 Villages Property tax – (The Karbhari News Service) – It is unfair to levy income tax three times to ten times the income tax of the previous gram panchayat on the incomes of the residents and non-residents of the 34 villages newly included in the Pune Municipal Corporation and keeping in mind the fact that it is not possible for the income earners to pay this tax, care should be taken that the income tax of the Pune Municipal Corporation is not more than double the previous gram panchayat tax. In this regard, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar directed that the process of amending the law should be started immediately in a meeting held with the Urban Development Secretary today.

Pune Municipal Corporation has imposed three times to ten times increased tax on resident and non-resident incomes of 34 villages, which is causing injustice to the respective villages. The villagers demanded its removal from Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Accordingly, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar today held a meeting with the senior officials of the Urban Development Department and directed to remove the injustice immediately. Secretary of Urban Development Department K. Govindaraj, MLA Sarveshree Chetan Tupe, Sunil Tingre, Bhimrao Tapkir along with representatives of 34 villages, senior officers of Urban Development Department were present.

Through a special letter, the state government has instructed to suspend the collection of 2 percent penalty (delay amount) imposed on the annual arrears of property tax and penalty on illegal construction in 34 villages newly included in the Pune Municipal Corporation till further instructions. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar today gave clear instructions to the senior officials of the Urban Development Department that as the law needs to be amended to reduce the tax levied from three to ten times on the income of 34 villages along with waiving the penalty, the said action should be completed immediately and relief should be given to the income holders of the 34 villages. is
