Pune Municipal Commissioner’s instructions on the Mumbai incident
Mumbai Hoarding Accident – (The Karbhari News Service) – Permission is given to erect billboards (hoardings) within Pune city limits through the PMC Sky Sign Department of Pune Municipal Corporation. Following the (hoarding) accident that happened in Mumbai yesterday, Pune Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale (IAS) has reviewed the licensing and sky signs department and given instructions. Auditing of all the official billboards according to the structure stability report in accordance with the coming monsoon season. Action should be taken against those billboards which are defective, ensuring that no billboard falls during unseasonal rain and wind. Also, to ensure that there is no unauthorized advertisement board left in the municipal limits and if any unauthorized advertisement board is found, the concerned Deputy Commissioner will be responsible for this. It has been ordered to take action accordingly and instructions have been given to Deputy Commissioner Licensing and Sky Signs Department to take the report from the concerned within 2 days.
According to the instructions given earlier to all the Assistant Commissioners, a structural audit of all the hoardings in the city should be conducted and the information submitted. Earlier instructions have been given to all regarding structural audit of five percent of the advertisement boards given by the advertisement holder through our Deputy Engineers and Junior Engineers.
All Assistant Commissioners have already been informed. However, the large number of board banners in the cities cause huge bamboo hills, causing traffic obstruction. At the same time, there is a possibility of danger. In view of yesterday’s incident in Mumbai, in accordance with the daily storms, full-time action should be taken today and all board banners, unauthorized hoardings, as well as the hills built for putting up boards in the city should be removed and confiscated. Similarly, a case should be registered with the help of the police against the mandav who has raised the said hills. The help of the police should be taken while taking the said action. – 85 unauthorized billboards in the city!
According to the information provided by the Municipal Sky Signs Department, there are a total of 85 unauthorized billboards in the city. So there are 2598 official boards. The department has taken action against 1564 unauthorized boards. So there are 2249 panels that have received the structure stability report.
