Maharashtra Cabinet | Inclusion of mother’s name in all government documents is Mandatory

(The Karbhari News Service) – Maharashtra government has decided to make it mandatory to include mother’s name in all government documents. This decision will be implemented from May 1, 2024.

The Maharashtra cabinet yesterday decided to make inclusion of mother’s name mandatory on all government documents like birth certificate, school documents, property documents, Aadhaar card and PAN card.

The Income Tax department had clarified in 2018 that it will not be mandatory to mention the father’s name in the PAN application in cases where the applicant’s mother is a single parent. Subsequently the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) had amended the rules which gave the applicant an option whether the mother was a single parent or not and whether the applicant wanted to state only the mother’s name.

The first honor of implementation goes to ‘Ajit Ashatai Anantrao Pawar’

In the state’s fourth women’s policy announced on this year’s International Women’s Day (March 8), it was decided to make it mandatory to write the mother’s name in official government documents. Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Finance and Planning Ajit Pawar has won the honor of immediate implementation of this decision, and outside his hall on the sixth floor of the Ministry, a sign saying ‘Ajit Ashatai Anantrao Pawar’ has been seen on the first office day after the holiday.

The offices of Chief Minister Eknathrao Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar are located on the sixth floor of the Ministry. Therefore, the number of citizens coming to the sixth floor is the highest. This plaque has become a point of attraction and admiration for those visiting the sixth floor of the Ministry. Acting Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s style of work for immediate implementation of the state’s women’s policy is being appreciated by all. The state’s fourth women’s policy was launched on March 8 on International Women’s Day. That day was Mahashivratri holiday. Then came the weekly holiday of Saturday and Sunday. For officials, employees and citizens who came to the Ministry after three consecutive days of vacation after March 8, the ‘Ajit Ashatai Anantrao Pawar’ plaque outside the Deputy Chief Minister’s office became a matter of surprise and admiration, reaffirming Ajit Pawar’s proactive work style.
