| Demand to make it compulsory for income holders to undertake their own STP project

 |  Complaint of ex corporator Haridas Charvad to guardian minister

Pune River Pollution |  Due to the pollution of rivers in Pune, the health of Pune residents is in danger.  So water must be treated and released while releasing it into the river.  Former corporator of BJP Haridas Charwad (BJP Pune) has complained to Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar.
According to Charwad’s statement, dams supplying water to Pune city and district are located in Sinhagad area, Varasgaon, Panshet, Khadakwasla dams have been constructed on rivers Mossi, Mutha and Ambi.  From Panshet Dam area to Khadakwasla, there has been massive urbanization on both sides of the river.  Villages and settlements are being newly created and large five-star resorts, hotels and farm houses have been built on both sides of the river.  All these developed areas are discharging all their drainage water directly into the river without any treatment.  Also, since all the Gram Panchayats near the river do not have their own Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), the Gram Panchayats are forced to release sewage into the river.  Due to this, the river is getting dirty and polluted to a large extent.  Further, this water is being released through canals for drinking by Pune residents and for agriculture in rural areas.
A survey in this regard should be made mandatory for all income holders to have their own Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) or similar system and ban on discharge of sewage into the river.  This demand has been made by Bharatiya Janata Party Pune city vice president corporator Haridas Charwad.  In this regard, he has made a statement to Pune District Guardian Minister Tase Pune Collector, Pune Municipal Commissioner and Chief Engineer Khadakwasla Irrigation Department, Sinchan Bhawan.
In view of water scarcity, if the sludge from Khadakwasla dam and other two dams is removed by Pune Municipality, the storage capacity of Khadakwasla dam will be increased and the water of rivers will be fully utilized.  Increased FSI for construction, metro FSI, FSI for purchase, will put a huge strain on the system.
 1. Rivers above Khadakwasla Dam i.e. up to Panshet Varasgaon Dam should be desilted and cleaned.
 2. The Government of Maharashtra should immediately provide space and funds for the construction of sewage treatment plants (STP) in all village panchayats along the rivers from Varasgaon, Panshet to Khadakwasla dam area.
 3. Obligation of Sewage Treatment Plant ( STP ) or similar system ( Small Unit, Natural Project) to private investors.
Haridas Charvad has demanded that a survey should be done immediately in this regard.
