| MSRTC Corporation will save Rs 234 crore

 MSRTC |  (Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)) MoU with King Gas Company to convert 5000 diesel buses of State Transport Corporation (MSRTC) into Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) alternative fuel vehicles in the presence of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today  A deal was made.
 This LNG fuel usage will help reduce the pollution caused by diesel fuel vehicles by about ten percent.  At the same time, it will help the corporation to save 234 crore rupees every year.  The Chief Minister said on this occasion that passengers will get cost-effective and environment-friendly services.
 In a meeting held at Varsha’s residence, Principal Secretary of Transport Department Parag Jain, Managing Director of King Gas Company Mr.  Qureshi signed the MoU.  Vice President and Managing Director Dr.  Madhav Kusekar, General Manager (Storage & Purchase) Vaibhav Wakode were present.
 Conversion of a total of 5000 diesel vehicles to LNG vehicles will be done in 6 phases over three years.  After converting the entire five thousand buses, it will help the corporation to save about 234 crore rupees every year, said Shri.  Jain said.  LNG fuel filling facility will be provided at 90 depots in the state.
 Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation has about 16 thousand passenger vehicles running on diesel fuel.  About 34 percent of the corporation’s total expenditure is spent on diesel.  To implement the concept of green transport, the Department of Industries has asked King’s Gas Pvt Ltd to supply LNG as an alternative fuel for Maharashtra to use alternative fuel instead of diesel.  A memorandum of understanding has been signed with them.  It includes the use and supply of LNG for transportation.  The maintenance of the converted vehicles will be done through the converting company and the maintenance cost will be borne by the corporation.
