Commission for Backward Classes to start survey on war footing from January 23
: Keep the Call Centers pressed into service round the clock | Directions from Chief Minister Mr Eknath Shinde*
Mumbai | “In order to check the social, economic and educational backwardness of the Maratha community, the state Commission for Backward Classes is going to start a survey on war footing from January 23. As such, all the government machineries should be kept ready. This work should be given top most priority and survey should be carried out accurately with punctuality”, these directions were given by Chief Minister Mr Eknath Shinde here today. He also asked the administration to visit village to village and give the information to the villagers, display the same on the notice boards and let the people know about the survey.
The Chief Minister was today speaking at the meeting on the topic of Maratha reservation with all the divisional commissioners, district magistrates, commissioners of municipal corporations and other senior officials through video conferencing at his official residence Varsha.
Retired justice Dilip Bhosle, retired justice Maruti Gaikwad, retired justice Sandeep Shinde, additional chief secretary of revenue department Rajagopal Devra, principal secretary of the chief minister Vikas Kharge, principal secretary of the urban development department Dr K H Govindraj, secretary of Other Backward Class (OBC) department Anshu Sinha, secretary for law and Justice Kalote were also present during the meeting. At the beginning, the secretary (service) of General Administration Department (GAD) Sumanth Bhange gave the information about the decisions taken till date in concern with the reservation to Maratha community.
The survey by the Commission for the Backward Classes is going to commence from 23rd of January up to 31st January and the survey of Maratha and non- Maratha open category will be carried on during the period. An estimated two crore 50 lakh families will be surveyed. Renowned institutions like Gokhale Institute, IIPS are going to assist in carrying out the survey.
*Appeal made for working with social spirit*
Chief Minister Mr Eknath Shinde said that the state government is committed to give the reservation to Maratha community that will be in the framework of the law and long lasting. He appealed to the administration to work for the cause with social spirit with full strength and unity.
*Give information from village to village and on notice board*
Chief Minister Mr Shinde further directed the administration to carry out this important survey in three different shifts. He asked them to visit village to village for the survey, give information to the villagers and also inform them by writing the details on notice boards of the Gram Panchayats. The chief minister also asked the administration to check other mediums for informing people. He said that the people who will be coming for the survey should get information from each household as it will ensure accurate and complete survey. He also directed that the Tehsildar and all those related to the survey work should file their reports about the daily work on that particular day.
*Keep Call Centers open for 24 hours*
Ajit Ranade of the Gokhale Institute gave the information about the survey to be carried out. He informed that more than 1 lakh 25 thousand enumerators including teachers, Gram Sevaks, Anganwadi workers and Talathis will be engaged in the work, which will be completed in about eight days. He also said that the training had been started from today in 36 districts, 27 Municipalities and 7 Cantonment areas.
Chief Minister Mr Shinde asked the administration to carry out the training of the enumerators and officers properly and should make a mention of the training session, meetings and other important factors in the daily record.
Stating that there were shortcomings in the report of justice Gaikwad he said it is mandatory to overcome them. He further said that it is essential to know the difference between the report of 2008 and the present report of the Commission for Backward Classes. He also said that it is significant to know how the incentive data is gathered again. He directed the administration to properly prepare the report.
*Form a committee for genealogy to be headed by the Tehsildar*
The chief minister directed the administration to form a committee for knowing about the linkage (genealogy) which will be chaired by the Tehsildar. He said that it is important to match the linkage of the Kunbi records immediately. He directed to appoint a team of experts from BARTI and other competent institutions in order to resolve the cases concerned with records, at the earliest.
He asked the administration to include experts who are having good knowledge of Modi language, besides the Tehsildars, in this team. He appealed to run a special campaign in the villages where very few records of genealogy were found, adding that to give information to the public and accept the documents that will be available with the Police Patil and private persons.
*1 lakh 47 000 Kunbi certificates distributed since October*
Notably, a total of 1 lakh 47 thousand registered certificates had been distributed since October, when justice Sandeep Shinde (retired) committee started its work. 32 thousand records have been found in Marathwada region itself and 18 thousand 6 hundred Kunbi certificates have been distributed.
