More than 400 centers for e-waste and plastic collection in Pune

PMC PEHEL – 2024 | On the occasion of Sant Gadge Baba Jayanti, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) conducts various environmental friendly activities every year. These include Deep Cleaning Drive, Waste Sorting Awareness, Eradication of Chronic Waste Spots and PMC PEHEL 2024 activities.
Like last year, Pune Municipal Corporation, Cummins India Foundation, KPIT and local social organizations in the field of environment have jointly organized ‘PEHEL-2024’ e-waste and plastic collection campaign at the city level. This information was given by Deputy Commissioner Sandip Kadam PMC.
In this campaign, on February 25, more than 400 collection centers will be set up across Pune city from 9 am to 1 pm.
Citizens should register their active participation. Such an appeal has been made by the Municipal Solid Waste Management Department (PMC Solid Waste Management Department).
Under this on February 24 in schools and colleges E-waste and plastic will be collected. Awareness programs will be organized at various levels from February 18 and sermons will be presented on February 23.
Separate collection, proper management and scientific recycling of these wastes is the need of the day as a solution to the problem of e-waste and plastic waste. All Pune residents are requested to participate in the ‘Pehel-2024’ campaign in large numbers on the day of collection of e-waste generated at home or business.
And bring the plastic to your nearest collection center and deposit it. Such an appeal has been made through the Pune Municipal Corporation.
Recoverable from collected e-waste
Items will be repaired. And these items will be donated to needy students and educational institutions. The remaining e-waste and plastic waste will be handed over to organizations registered by the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board. Further recycling of waste will be done scientifically by these institutions.
