Hari Narke News | Renowned senior author and thinker professor Hari Narke, who dedicated his life to progressive ideas, passed away at the age of 70 on Wednesday due to a sudden cardiac event. While he was on his way to Mumbai on Wednesday morning, he suffered distress. Subsequently, he was admitted to a private hospital in Mumbai without delay and died during the treatment. Professor Narke was well-known for his leadership in the movement for equality. He had a significant presence as the head of the Department of Mahatma Phule Studies at Savitribai Phule Pune University. Currently, he was holding the position of Vice-Chairman of the Samata Parishad.
Through the Maharashtra State Literature Creation Board, he edited works by great figures like Mahatma Phule and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. Born in a poor family on June 1, 1963 in Telangana Dhamdhere in Pune district he pursued most of his education from Pune.
Hari Narke made contributions to debunking the myths around Mahatma Phule, enlightening the path of knowledge like Savitribai Phule, questioning the future of the oppressed, researching Dalit literature, and adding new perspectives to the works on Mahatma Phule’s research.
To secure the status of Marathi as a Classical Language, Hari Narke actively worked within committees established by the state government. His familiarity with scholarly and intellectual discussions made him recognizable. Through various lectures, he engaged in the task of social enlightenment.
